Overview:
Mia Ashton's birth name is Einmyria. She is loosely based on the figure from Norse Mythology. Although she looks human to most while on Midgard, she is in fact an Eldjflagð (the Norse word for 'Fire Giantess') of Muspellheim. Of the stages in burning, she is associated with ashes.
Precious little is revealed about this character in only the most obscure Norse myths and there is no mention of either Einmyria, or her sister Eisa, in the Poetic Edda. In my version of her back story, her mother (Glut) is still in Muspellheim but both girls gallivant around the other realms. Eisa is the more adventurous of the two, so while she moves from place to place, Einmyria has made her home on Midgard. I have chosen to keep her father's identity a mystery, he is likely an Eldjotun too. While the myths claim that Loki is the father, I feel he has enough spawn as it is and any character associated with him is soon overshadowed. Instead, she will relate to him as a cousin from either Jotunheim or Muspellheim (depending on his canon). I plan to play her as an original character, largely relying on creative license rather than solid facts in my portrayal of her.

Head Canon:
She currently stays on present-day Midgard, working as a fire-dancer. It is unclear how long she has been here but she is based in Australia and may have picked up a slight accent. The pay could be better but she doesn't want to take on another job as she can't contain her flames for long. She also finds living off the grid makes life less complicated for someone who is not a true human, the less questions asked the better. That said, she does need her laptop and a wi-fi connection. She calls a caravan her home but it hardly fits the 'trailer trash' stigma; it is quite neat, beautifully decorated and has a bohemian flair about it.
Mia's career allows her to unleash her pent-up energy and express her creative streak. She performs stunning displays, manipulating her natural element. At first, the art form took some getting used to as she could not handle the fire recklessly; she now creates the illusion that she could get burnt just as easily as other dancers should she make a wrong move. Mia may befriend humans but she is just as likely to interact with supernatural beings; be they fae, djinn, gods or nymphs. Such magical creatures may see through her disguise.
Her body is made up of compacted ash and lava so she can shape it as she pleases, taking both male and female forms. She seldom travels to the other realms because it takes up vast amounts of energy and she has lost touch with them. Einmyria may appear to have been tamed over the years but inside she is still a product of her fiery native land, and if she does not give into her true nature often enough she will spontaneously combust. She can tell this is about to happen, when cracks start to show through her mortal guise.
Norse Mythology Canon:
Her living circumstances are much the same here but some of her relationships may be different. Members of her extended family who recognise her, are welcome to approach her if they so choose. This actually applies to Norse muses in general, not just relatives. If a Loki would prefer to acknowledge her as a daughter rather than a distant cousin, this can be arranged but it is more applicable to non-Marvel Lokis. In my canon I have depicted Loki's mother, Nál as the sister to Einmyria's mother, Glut. In the mythology Nál gave birth to Loki after being struck by lightening so she must have had some resistance to fire which lead me to assume that, even if she is not a true Eldjotun she could be related to one. Nál is associated with pine needles or leaves which make good tinder, another characteristic that aligns her with the Eldjotnar. Her traits could identify her as a forest, storm or mountain Jotun too but, no matter which elements they wield, all the Jotun races share a common ancestry. In the Marvel canon, I imagine her nature was neutral enough for her and King Laufey to become close without endangering each other. Her sister, Glut would have been more typical of an Eldjotun. Mia will acknowledge her many half-siblings as nieces and nephews unless they want her to be their big sister. The mun has a love affair with another heavily edited Norse muse who she has been playing for quite some time. All of said muse's threaders are free to stop by and poke Mia.
Personality:
Reserved, which may seem odd considering she is an entertainer. Mia is not shy but she is an introvert. She likes her own company and avoids speaking during her performances, for fear it will lessen the effect. She does not mind being on the move but she needs a home base even if it is in the form of her caravan.
Abilities:
-Her fire powers are actually quite weak for someone of her race, consisting mostly of explosive sparks, like a cinder cone volcano. Mia is associated with the remains that are left post-burning, she lacks the inate fuel to ignite her own fires. On the other hand, she is able to withstand low tempretures in temperate realms like Midgard for long periods of time with no ill effects. Her resilience makes up for her lack of power. However she can defend herself if needs be. She is able to choke the air around her with soot and shoot out shrapnel-like shards of glass from her skin.
-Although she is a giantess, her height is determined by the elements she can incorporate into her body. She usually stands at 5'5.
-Mia's magical abilities are associated with her nature. She is able to travel the world by dematerialising into light energy and reappearing wherever else the sun is shining on earth. This type of teleportation can only be done during the day, which makes traveling across timezones tricky.
-She is able to mold her natural form to a limited extent to blend in with her surroundings.
-If she gets wet, her body remains intact but she is weakened. Mia takes on a muddy look and her hair goes limp.
-She is quite artistic; making abstract murals and sculptures, and playing the cello when she can. She does this for her own pleasure and does not wish to sell these skills.
Appearance:
If your muse is human:
She will appear as a chestnut-haired, petite woman who could be anywhere between 25 and 35 (she is in all likelyhood at least 1000 years old). Her skin is fair and freckled and her eyes are hazel. For the sake of flexibility, she also appears as a young man of a similar description for fire-dancing displays geared towards a female audience. At times she feels she is taken more seriously as a man.
If your muse is non-human:
She has charcoal-grey skin with small scales that resemble flakes of ash. Her hair could be mistaken for being frizzy but, on closer inspection, each strand glows with fiber-optic light. Her eyes are black but each iris is gold.
